DVD Marine

the two disc DVD set that contains the episode "The Green Monster" of Marine Boy is out and in stores like Best Buy now. I've got it on my netflix queue, but it says "long wait". which might mean there's an actual interest in the shows presented on said disc. I'm in no real hurry to watch it, since I already have most of the cartoons ON the discs (Atom Ant, the Impossibles, etc) but I would like to see the quality of the episodes.

yes, it does still gall me that crap like Fullhouse is out and great shows like these are not.

Still need to check out the disc itself, but from what I understand, the single episode is possibly the best we've seen yet for a show that badly deserves a full box set (and nothing like the nth gen. copies taped from a Philadelphia station I had for years).

Though I wanted to contact you privately on this (can't find an e-mail anyway), I wanted to point out an insignificant ad I found on another site from a TV Guide published in '69. The ad is from a local station in my hometown that was for their local Romper Room program, but I couldn't help noticing a blurb on Marine Boy coming up a half-hour earlier gets stated in it.

Again, it's no biggie, but I thought I'd leave something for you in the book you're writing on this classic series. Too bad it's not an ad for the show like they ended up doing for Battle of the Planets a decade later...

Chris, thanks so much for posting that. I wish that I got notified of responses, can't believe it's been over a year and I just found this now.

Some blog posts do give you an option to "subscribe" to the comments of a particular entry. I just received your notice right now by the way so it worked. I rarely subscribe to blog posts since too often I get spam messages that are left in the comment section anyway.

Though I didn't mention this before, Warner Bros. themselves have their own "Warner Archives" site you can go and order DVD-R copies of movies and other rare films that aren't being released commercially in the stories. That would be probably the best way I can see WB bothering to do anything with Marine Boy if it did. They could release 4-5 episodes per disc and get the entire show released that way.

Glad to be of help as usual (let alone be over a year late in getting a response.

the WB archives is getting better, too, as they realize people want some quality with their DVDrs! LOL
so let's hope eventually they do release the show. I know Mr. Fernandez tried to get them interested in releasing it all the time, but they just wouldn't.
I have really nice copies, mostly from Australia, but would love a legit release.

Certainly seemed very unfair to him. In the end I feel like Jerry Beck when it comes to wanting this stuff to be seen at all and being so at odds with these companies who feel such a market or interest isn't there yet (or ignoring one even exists).

We all would. Hell they could run this on Boomerang up here if they had more than a care for that channel.
