Crippled Avengers (1978)

I first reviewed this in Xenorama #11 under it's original US title, Mortal Combat and was suitably impressed with a fullscreen dubbed nth generation copy.

now, despite the incredibly misleading current US title, the Dragon Dynasty DVD is simply amazing to watch.  there are subtitled and dubbed options and the picture is great.

the story makes you feel sorry for the villains at first, a bit, but then after seeing their wanton cruelty, their eventual defeat is all the more rewarding.

the training scenes are good, and the fight scenes are awesome.  I don't know if I'd call this a better movie overall than The Five Deadly Venoms, but I'd say it's right up there. it does have Kuan Tai Chen, which is always a plus to any movie!

isn't it just awesome? both movie and DVD presentation. I hadn't seen it in some time, and had forgotten quite a bit of it.

they did a really good job with the characterizations as well, I thought.
