Sword of Venus (1953)

Alpha DVD brings us this entertaining adaption of "The Count of Monte Cristo" though this time it's his son that gets framed and sent to prison.  you'd think he would have changed his name.

anyway, the blurbs say it's full of duels, swordfights and romance, but it's not really.  it's only exciting in the last 15 minutes, but it's not unbearable for the first 60 or so.  Robert Clarke does a fine job as Robert Dantes, and his fencing is quite good, what they use of it.

the quality of the print used is OK, it's not atrocious, but there are obvious missing frames here and there, and sound dropouts happen as well.  it's a decent movie, worth spending an  afternoon on.
