Dinosaur!

This first aired in 1985. Looking back on it now I can see it's the beginning of the end of dinosaurs being "terrible lizards" and starting to become real animals. This was narrated by the late who does a great job. The stop-motion animation is remarkable. I sure do miss it. This is the whole show, all 48 minutes of it. Interestingly enough, the name Brontosaurus is used throughout the show. I thought by '85 everyone knew there was no such thing as the Brontosaurus.

One of the other cool things was that there were several clips of WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH included in this show. I'd only ever seen the 8mm b/w compilations, so seeing crystal clear color images was really great. It's a little sad now that I've seen the whole movie, but the critters are great. Several other movies are included as well.

No wonder why I remember that name well outside The Flintstones!

Some of the stop motion animation seen in this special came from a film produced by Phil Tippett called "Prehistoric Beast". He later worked on Jurassic Park I believe.
