the Lone Ranger

I grew up watching the Lone Ranger, both in black and white and in color, it didn't matter to me.  It was second only two Batman in live action shows that I loved as a kid.  I still love it, and appreciate the acting of the stars a lot more.  It took me forever to realize the "old coot" character that the Ranger dressed up was actually Moore in a great disguise.  I always thought Jay Silverheels was great as well, and was happy that there was a character my brother could play. 

I've no real desire to see the new movie adaption, as it looks like it suffers from "origin-itis" and overblown effects.  what's the point?
I do recall seeing a few John Hart episodes and not liking them nearly as much.  I didn't know then why there was a different actor in a role that wasn't his, but I can understand it more now.  I don't blame him for taking the part at all, it was work, a guy's gotta eat.  I didn't realize he had been in so much genre work.  good on him!

anyway, gotta love 25 minute adventures.  and that theme is still great.

I grew up with the Ranger as well. It was one of the great old tv shows I would get up at 5am to watch with my cereal. I always enjoyed the show and was absolutely blown away when I saw the two Clayton Moore movies at two consecutive weekend matinees.

I'm going to see the new film because I hear it is fun, but even the movies biggest boosters aren't trying to compare it to what Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels did with the characters.

Sometimes you should just leave well enough alone.
