Orion Home Video - Monster Movie Previews (1989)

I remember vividly when these four movies were released on VHS by Orion. I'd seen all of them before on TV, but they had pretty much disappeared by the mid-80s, thanks to damn infomercials. Ugh, I still hate those things. They were fullscreen versions, and all had the AIP/Titra/Titan dubbing that I had grown up seeing (yes, I know, GAPPA was the international dub, but you get the point) so "Save The Earth" is on the Smog Monster tape. These were also released on laser-disc, which was a blessing, since it allowed all of the dubs to be saved.

And the tapes are ONLY $19.98! Sell through VHS had just started happening, at least for some of the bigger movies. Now fans complain if they don't have hours of extras on a DVD, but we were thankful to have fullscreen mono dubbed movies finally available. This is a promo video for all four movies. It's a fun slice of history.

We all do. Blame Ronnie for that one!

At least Orion put a little effort into those cases the tapes came in (not to mention sub-licensing their videos to Image Entertainment for those LaserDiscs). That's more than could be said in their final years.
