Lemmy Kilmister, bassist and singer for the metal band Motörhead passed away today of an "aggressive cancer". I know he had been failing for a while now, as reports of his health were all around the internet. It's a sad day, as he played the music he liked, never caring much about mainstream commercial success.
And good for him! Motörhead achieved success their own way. I never saw them live, nor was a huge fan, but he seemed pretty straightforward to me. This was the first time I had seen them, on the excellent "Young Ones" series, and it's their signature tune, "Ace of Spades", which proves Lemmy had an excellent sense of humor as well. RIP.
