Crisis on Earth X

It's a great time to be a superhero fan.  This four part crossover with the CW's super shows was so much fun to watch.  When I saw the promos I knew what was going to happen, what with reading the original JLA/JSA/Freedom Fighters story way back in the early 70s.  Obviously it's not the same, and I'm not even sure how many of the actual heroes (well, one for sure) actually made it from that story to this adaption, but it was just fine.

Justice League (2017)

I liked it.  I've been a fan of the Justice League in many of it's incarnations for a long time, and I'm glad they made this movie now, instead of a few years ago when it would have been all grimdark.

Thor Ragnarok (2017)

I quite enjoyed this movie.  I know a lot of Norse mythology, and that's because I read the comics first, and wanted to know more about the actual myths.  I know that Loki is father to Hela, Jormungandr (the Midgard serpent) and the Fenrir Wolf.  I figured out Stan, Jack and the rest had done some creative liberty with their versions, and that for once, didn't bother me.  I still loved both of the versions.  While I'm no expert on Norse Mythology, I do know what Odin's spear is called, he said humbly bragging...

Marine Boy book 1st and 2nd Editions

Soon the second edition of Marine Boy will be published, it's in the process of being reviewed now but should be approved later on today.  I hope!

It will be easy to distinguish editions, as the second edition is smaller, has more pages and a different back cover.   And by more pages, I mean A LOT more- nearly triple the page count from the first edition.  So I'm not really worried about any confusion there.  I'm a lot happier with it being in a smaller format, I must say.  I think the pictures look better overall.  I'm very pleased with the way this came out.  After almost 20 years of work, it's about time to call this finished!

Xenorama #21 cover

Look at this amazing cover.  It's exactly what I wanted for this homage/tribute  to the most influential Famous Monsters issue in my life, #114.  It's got great new articles about all the great Japanese movies from the original zine, and many more!  Movies like the Majin trilogy, Destroy All Planets, you name it, it's probably in there.  It was fun to re-read the issue again, which I hadn't done in quite some time, as it's about to disintegrate.

Svengoolie

I did not grow up with horror hosts as a kid.  We had some kind of "control voice" that introduced both "The Outer Limits" and "Sci-Fi Flicks" on Channel 2, but there was no actual host to watch.  Hence, I have no emotional attachment to these types of shows like many of my friends do.  I've never really cared about seeing them, though I have enjoyed several documentaries about the phenomenon, both reading and watching them.

Comet TV

I remember when the Sci-Fi Network started, and how fun it was for a couple years.  They showed old movies all the time, with great prints, had a cartoon block early Sunday mornings and we all though there would be more and better things coming our way.  Since I don't have cable (cut the cord years ago) I've only ever seen it a few times here and there, but mostly it seems to be second run made for tv/dvd movies from cheap companies.  Some of them are decent entertainment, but most are just not very good.

Despciable Me 3 (2017)

This was the first Despicable Me movie I have seen in the theater.  I saw the other two via DVD and then Minions when it was out in 2015.  But this time, I was ready for it.  I had a nice meal and some tasty beverages beforehand, and half a pack of gummi bears for the movie.  Hit it.

Guardians volume 2

It's a lot of fun.  I liked it as much as the first one, maybe a little more.

Kong: Skull Island (2017)

I had low expectations of this,  so I'm happy to say they were easily met.

One Million Years, BC Blu Ray review

I got this in the mail a few days ago, and it's a great set, though I am a bit confused as to why the US cut is even included, but I guess it's nice to have it preserved.  It is a "3K" presentation, whatever that means.  I may watch it once, but since the commentary is on the 100 minute cut that's probably the one I'll usually watch.  I'm happy to have both, though, since they put the extras on the second disc.  I don't know yet if they are just the ported over interviews of Ray and Raquel from the UK DVD, but there's also an interview from Martine Beswick now as well.

Xenorama #20

This is a really good issue.  I have had a lot of stuff going on and haven't been able to promote it properly til now.
