today the first Doctor Who story aired, titled "An Unearthly Child". we are introduced to the Doctor and his granddaughter Susan, along with their human companions, teachers Barbara and Ian. of course during the course of the episode the T.A.R.D.I.S. is launched, and even then the old girl was a crotchety thing and didn't go exactly where the Doctor wanted her to.
this first Doctor was not easy for me to like, even though many of the Doctors following him often shared his feelings about human beings. he was often cranky, which has become part of his charm. I've grown to enjoy him a lot more recently, but of the original set he may be in the lower four. they did mellow him out a bit as the series went on. here's the first time we see the TARDIS take off. even in the new series the sound remains the same.
