Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies

much in a similar vein of "Bruce Lee and Kung Fu Mania" this DVD set was originally a VHS tape that cost $10.  I never actually owned the tape, but I had "Grandpa's Sci-Fi Hits" which had several of the same trailers on it.  at least this one didn't have Grandpa saying ridiculous lines between the trailers.
it did start out with a small mostly correct documentary at the beginning of the tape, with many of the images I've chosen, since they are kind of unique now and cool.

I sure miss dinosaurs being "terrible lizards".  now they are just animals, and what's the fun in that?  the DVD goes into a small "making of" featurette on 1974's "Golden Voyage of Sinbad" showing Ray Harryhausen doing his amazing craft, and a lot of the cast.  this is a really cool movie, and I'm glad it's been preserved.
after that we get a ton of trailers.  some actually have something to do with dinosaurs, such as "Journey to the Beginning of Time" which leads off the show.  I have said this many times, I really wish I had seen that movie as a kid, as I would have loved it.  would have been a great flick to see right after "Land of the Lost".
intermingled in between the dinosaur movies are Godzilla movies, giant bug movies, fantasy movies and everything in between.  trailers sure were something else back then!  the disc ends with "One Million Years, BC" and "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" fittingly enough.

it's a fun disc, even if the picture quality isn't great.  I think copies are still floating about.
