I remember hearing this version on the Dr. Demento show back in 1979 or 1980, but somehow missed that it was by Devo and from the movie "War of the Gargantuas" (1966). I knew I had heard it before, but since monster movies had started disappearing by that time (at least in Colorado) I couldn't quite place where I knew it from.
Later on it all fell into place, but then it was quite the mystery. This performance is from Paris in 1978, and that mask is damn creepy, and the voice is even creepier. I wonder how he did that. Devo is sure a great band even then, and well deserving more acclaim than they ever got at the time.
