So I'm watching this movie for the first time in probably 15 years or so, and wow, it sure looks like a what's now known as a Tim Burton movie. That's not exactly a good thing. I liked it fairly well when it came out, more than the first movie since it had more action and we didn't have to go through all that origin nonsense, though we had to get through the origin nonsense for the Penguin and Catwoman. At least Catwoman looks better here than in the last Nolan Batman movie. Stupid "enhanced" realism.
It just seems like Burton was more concerned with how the movie looked than how logical the story was. The casting was very good, nice to see PeeWee Herman in the beginning as Mr. Cobblepot, the Penguin's father. Didn't recognize him until I saw his name in the credits. Kudos to Tim for giving him work in a hit movie. Anyway, it's a decent movie, but none of the four movies in this series are really that great. The hype for the first one was due to the unique casting of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I really liked Keaton as Wayne, though the costume left a lot to be desired. All this armor on heroes like this is ridiculous.
I mean Batman is supposed to be fast. 30-40 pounds of armor isn't going to make anyone but Iron Man fast. But I digress. It's certainly an interesting looking movie, but I want more action. And it's a bit long- where's an editor when you need one?
It's probably the best of this series, but that's really not saying much.
