The first time I heard this song I really didn't care much for it. It was only years later that I realized how brilliant it actually was. Of course, once I read up more about the Clash I was even more impressed with "The Only Band That Matters" and what they accomplished in their short time together.
This is a live version, which sounds just a wee bit different than the studio version, as one would rightly expect. Fortunately both versions retain the same sense of urgency and subversion. I really wish I had had the chance to see the Clash in 1981. While they really weren't the only band that mattered, that sure was a good slogan.
