Bucky O'Hare and his S.P.A.C.E. agents are the first (and only) ship battling space Toads as they try to take over the Aniverse. Bucky ends up causing more people to rebel against the Toads and their computer leader Complex over the course of the series. A pre-teenage genius, WIlly DuWitt manages to create a cross-dimensional photon accelerator. This allows him to become the Righteous Indignation's chief engineer. The rest of the crew consists of a duck, a cat, a baboon and an android. The series does wrap up at the end, with a finale which was co-written by Neal Adams. The toy line did not take off and no more episodes were produced.
This is a fun cartoon. It was based on a comic book series from 1985, Bucky created by comic book writer Larry Hama and comic book artist Michael Golden[1] between 1977 and 1978[2] and made its publishing debut in Echo of Futurepast #1 in May 1984 Continuity Comics.[3]. I love Golden's artwork- those first 11 issues of Marvel Comics' The Micronauts are gold! This animated series was broadcast in 1991, and ran 13 episodes. It is too bad it didn't last longer, as it has some cool ideas and does not look like other cartoons. One more series that was ahead of its time.
