Isis (1975)

 

From Wiki- Isis starred Joanna Cameron as Andrea Thomas, a science teacher at Larkspur High School who found an ancient mystical gold amulet, the "Tutmose amulet", on an archeological dig in Egypt. The Isiac amulet, which resembled the headdress of Hathor, had originally belonged to Queen Hatshepsut, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh. The amulet gave the wearer (specifically, Hatshepsut and her descendants, of which Andrea was one) "the powers of the animals and the elements", which would be bestowed upon such wearer by the goddess Isis whenever it was exposed and her name invoked. Whenever Isis was needed, Andrea would reveal the Isiac amulet (which she wore as an everyday necklace) and recite an incantation—"Oh mighty Isis"—transforming her into the goddess/super-heroine.

Filmation already had a hit on their hands with Shazam! from 1974, even though it was a very tepid superhero show.  The next year they brought forth this series.  I remember watching it a few times, but much like their Captain Marvel, I was not impressed.  I can't remember the last I watched any of those episodes.  I recently received a complete set of Isis, and I have watched about three episodes.  Petty thieves and stupid kids have dominated the episodes.  I have enjoyed the extras way more.  

Joanna Cameron is just exotic enough to look like she might have Egyptian ancestry, but not enough to be threatening.  She always has this wry smile on her face, but takes the role seriously.  A lot of the episodes are shot outside, which makes it look more natural.

I dunno, I will see if the show ever gets better.
