Sven- Empire of the Ants 1977

This is not a good movie.  Giant ants organize and attack humans.  These ants have been mutated by radioactive waste, so of course the queen can also control the people via pheromones.  Where is Hank Pym or even Scott Lang when you need them?  It is a good thing there are explosives on this island, so the scant survivors can blow up the ants.  The end, or is it?  Thankfully the world never found out. 

The monster movies of the 70s were a bit dire.  Bert I. Gordon really did try to keep the genre alive, but these movies were lacking something his earlier movies lacked, and that was a sense of fun.  I think these movies and others were trying to emulate JAWS to a degree.  JAWS had humor in it, though, and a much better director.  I sure hope we are done with these movies for a while
