I know, I know, she's probably still not an official Rider, but in my mind she is. It only seems logical to me, but then what do I know? Stronger is one of my favorite Rider series because of her. She shows up before Stronger does in the first episode.

The other Avengers
Art by the awesome Will Migniot |
It's been noted here that I love super teams, and the Avengers in particular. I had just finished reading my first ever three part Avengers story, issues #102-104 (in a larger storyline back then) and was completely taken by this group of heroes. They had saved the Earth from the menace of the Sentinels (and lost Quicksilver as well). There was also a clue to the Vision's origin planted in there, which took me more than a few years to catch on with (I think this technically makes him the "First Avenger", sorry Cap). I just wanted more of them all the time, and waiting a month was just about unbearable. Not to mention the spotty distribution back in the early 70s could make it really hard to get all the issues in a row as we all know. So one day I was reading the TV Guide and I noticed a show called "The Avengers" was going to be airing on Channel 2. Imagine my excitement upon seeing that name in the TV Guide.

subtitled Ultra Fight
I just found out about this show recently, and it's got English subs! Pretty enjoyable, overall, though I haven't watched all the episodes. So nice to have so many Japanese shows available these days.

Romero's Joker
Watching this first season of Batman I'm so impressed with the casting of all the actors, even some of the henchmen. I've always given Cesar Romero's portrayal of the Joker short shrift, but now I'm really enjoying it. He doesn't have quite the complexity of Hamill's Joker, but try as he might not to, Nicholson cribbed a lot from Romero for his portrayal. I have no idea what the late Heath Ledger was taking from, but that really wasn't the Joker anyway, just some clown in costume makeup pretending to be Mr. J. But of course I digress in the grumpiest of old man sort of ways, don't I?

I don't feel so well, Dave...
My computer died a slow death the other day, hence posts here may be fewer this month than norma. I'm not really fussed about it, though I was really getting back into writing regularly and now that's come to a (brief) end. Still, I think it'll be nice to get a new computer, and this one lasted almost 6 years, which is pretty good in computer time.

A Batman video
These new DVDs look so good, you'd think the show was filmed last year. It makes me really happy to know the elements were taken such good care of. I wonder how well the sets are selling now.

The First Doctor
"I don't make threats." The Doctor, from the seventh story "The Sensorites".
It's interesting watching the First Doctor in action. I've seen about the same amount of episodes of One and Two, but the First is in the lower rung of my favorites out of the original run. Perhaps it's because he looked so old in my eyes, which of course is all relative. Now that I'm getting to watch more of his episodes and seeing how the Doctor's lore has been expounded upon in the new series, his comments like that stand out a lot more than they would have even ten years ago. It's kind of fun.
