Comic Book: the Movie

"Always leave them wanting more." either P.T. Barnum or some guy named Disney.

trouble with most movies these days is they don't leave you wanting more, they leave you wanting less.  ten to twenty minutes less in most cases, sometimes an hour or two in a few.

here's a perfect example of that.  Comic Book: the Movie clocks in at 106 minutes, which is about 15 minutes too long for the story.  told in the style of "Best In Show" with parts unscripted, it meanders on just a tad too long for it's own good.  Mark Hamill directs and stars in it, along with several other voice actors and many comic book creators and other lesser dignitaries.  you'll know them when you see them.

it's about a man and the love of his favorite character and what he will do to try to keep the vision of it pure as Hollywood attempts to "improve" it in a dark and gritty way.

this was shot at the 2002 San Diego Comic Con, the last one I went to that I really had fun at.  anyone who loves comic books and superheroes will find a lot of this really funny and sometimes a bit close to home.

not me, of course.  I really liked it, but I wanted to love it.
