Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)

any idea what's going on?

see that picture?  that's the main problem with this movie.  it's all the same damn color, and half the time it's hard to make out what the heck is going on in the movie.  it does make the parts that actually have color in them stand out a lot, but those are far and in between.
even when the actors are on the screen you can't always tell what they are doing.  it's very disappointing and overall annoying.  there's a decent story here, and  lots of neat (if borrowed) ideas are present, but with the overuse of sepia tone it just made me sleepy for the most part. 

I did like the music.

the cast is good.  the "homages" to many fine movies, books, comics and serials is OK, but it gets a little wearing overall.  mostly, it made me want to watch the movies that inspired this one.  give me Commando Cody or Captain Midnight any day.
