remember when this came out on VHS? for a whole $10 you got a tiny "where did martial arts come from" doc, a behind the scenes of "Enter the Dragon and then about an hour of kung fu trailers. it was really great.
who knew it would be available for even cheaper on DVD? not me, that's for sure. it's still pretty cool all things considered.
this is a blatant misrepresentation of the contents of the disc though. though trailers give you some of the best scenes, they mostly should just be doing enough to make you want to see the movie, not telling you everything about the movie.
one of the best things about trailers is you get to see original US titles. in this day and age, we get the the actual titles the movies used originally. most of the ones over here were added to make them somewhat more salacious. at least some of them, huh Mao Ying?
take this one for instance- one of my favorite kung fu movies of all time, it's only known as "The Five Venoms" now. the "deadly" was a US addition. though how many venoms are though of as helpful? but it sure adds an extra little punch to the title of the movie.
the title of this one was "The Bod Squad" which is... well, I like this one better. I can't tell which one was the original US title now. there's a bunch more trailers, a lot of Shaw Brothers for their TV releases. that's well worth preserving.
