Calvin Monday

Calvin's mom is right.  Imagine that, using common sense about "mainstream commercial nihilism"- that would have put the whole "Satanic panic" from the early 80s to rest right away.  Of course, the grifters would have had to find a different grift for their suckers followers.  Be that as it may, controversy sells, as Calvin proves here.  I wonder what album Calvin wanted.  Fortunately, Calvin is pretty timeless (at least until home PCs and cell phones showed up) so it could have been from any era pre-2000s.  Watterson was pretty clever about such things.
This strip is from March 18th, 1992, and was probably created right before grunge put hair metal on life support.  I wonder what album Calvin wanted.  Death metal wasn't very well known then, and certainly not being played on the radio much at the time.  KISS was out of their makeup, and Ozzy was almost a parody of himself by then.  The world will never know.
