The Lost World 1912

From Wiki- The Lost World is a science fiction novel by British writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1912, concerning an expedition to a plateau in the Amazon basin of South America where prehistoric animals still survive. It was originally published serially in the Strand Magazine and illustrated by New-Zealand-born artist Harry Rountree during the months of April–November 1912. The character of Professor Challenger was introduced in this book. The novel also describes a war between indigenous people and a vicious tribe of ape-like creatures.  Me again:

I got a copy of this, found it, well, maybe borrowed it from the school library and forgot to return it back in the late 70s or so.  I later realized why they might not have cared that it wasn't returned- it was missing about 50 pages in the middle.  So I never quite finished reading it until I got a complete copy a decade later.  And then haven't read it again until I got this fine edition.  I have seen several adaptations of the book, but most leave out the last bit about the battle of the hominids.  I am quite enjoying this version, it is lavishly illustrated and looks great.  There will be a more in-depth review on the podcast shortly, of both the book and the 1925 movie.  Probably next year for the frikkin' 100th anniversary of the movie.
