GI Joe vs Octopus

 

I was never much into GI Joe, in either incarnation.  The dolls were too big and I had already discovered Mego dolls.  I wanted superheroes, and Joe was just not it for me.  I liked the concept, though.  I did have one doll, and the "Eight Arms of Danger" set.  I wanted the octopus far more than anything else, and I played with it a lot.  I had quite an octopus collection, actually, and those were not easy to come by back in the early 70s.  But I digress. Both octopus and Joe disappeared mysteriously.  Joe was long gone before Topo was, though.  I was not much fussed about Joe, he was clunky, and you have to dry out his wetsuit if you took the toys to the water.  I hope whoever got him loved him more than I did.
