House of Frankenstein (1944)

The direct sequel to the last film. It's kind of two separate stories with the same characters, though.  Mad Scientist kills carnival owner and revives Drac for 25 minutes.  Then he unceremoniously ditches the Count in the sun, and he's out of the picture completely.  Only Karkoff an Naish remain in the movie.  After Drac dies they find a gypsy caravan, kidnap a girl, and head to Frankenstein's castle.  There they find both Larry Talbot and the monster frozen in ice.  This ends well for no one at all.

It's a fun movie, if a bit disjointed.  This is John Carradine's first turn as the Count, and he is suave and debonair, but he does not have a dangerous presence.  He's no Lugosi in that regard.  I'm not even sure why he is in the movie, as he doesn't even get a good death scene.  None of the monsters really meet each other all in this movie.

The rest of the cast is a lot of fun  Elena Verdugo is rather naive as the gypsy girl Ilonka, but she's brave enough to "kill" Larry with a silver bullet.  Naish is really good as Daniel, though.  For a monster rally, it's not much of one.
