The Flight of Dragons 1982

At the end of the magic age and the beginning of the logic age, a choice must be made.  However, the forces of evil are determined not to let mankind make the boring choice.  Harry Morgan as Carolinus, the Green Wizard, brings a man from the future to the Magic Age for his help.  This is John Ritter as Peter Dickinson, who put himself in his own book and game.  He agrees to help out, and falls in love with Nellie Bellflower as Danielle.  In the middle of this, Peter gets his mind put into Bob McFadden as Gorbash's body.  The quest is successful, and magic is going away.

Is that a success?  I never like these sorts of stories much.  From Wiki: The Flight of Dragons is a 1982 animated fantasy film produced and directed by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr. loosely combining the speculative natural history book of the same name (1979) by Peter Dickinson with the novel The Dragon and the George (1976) by Gordon R. Dickson.[1] It stars the voices of John Ritter, Victor Buono (in his final role before his death), James Gregory, James Earl Jones, and Harry Morgan. Me again: The acting is really good.  I somehow missed this movie completely when it came out.  It was aired as an ABC "Saturday Night Movie" on August 2, 1986, which is where I first heard of it.  I had run out to my parents house and my brother was watching it then.  I like it, but would rather see a direct adaptation of Gordon R. Dickson's book.
