Dacya would have been 17 years old today.  One of the reasons I took her home from Friends of Cats all those years ago was because they told me she was born on this day in the shelter.  I was looking for a tortie, and there she was, sleeping in a cat tree.  After that information was revealed (and that her name was Clementine) I knew fate had shown up.  She wasn't thrilled about the ride back to the house, and then hid under the bed for two weeks.  She did come out to eat and use the facilities.  We moved to a new place shortly after she arrived, so she was an only cat... until I decided to bring her a friend home, who was Thuvia Jane.

Today I said goodbye to my beloved 13 1/2 year old ginger cat, Thuvia Jane.  She had metastatic cancer in her lungs and I had to make that quality of life decision for her.  It's been a hard two weeks, but I know it was the right thing to do for her.  I am holding on to all the wonderful memories of her at this point.  She was with me for over 12 years, even longer than Dacya.  I know at some point Emerald will get a new friend, but it's gonna be a minute.  I know when it's time.

Thuvia Jane

Love your cats.  TJ is slightly over 13 years old now.  Due to my lapse of writing here for the past three years, I haven't mentioned my cats much. Dacya crossed the Rainbow  Bridge two years ago, and Emerald Sage, Emi for short, joined our family.  TJ is an unusual cat among cats, as she doesn't really want to share me with anyone else.  This includes people as well as other cats.  Oddly enough, she does tolerate boy cats.

Today is her tenth birthday.  She's still full of energy and tortitude and always tells me exactly what is on her mind.  She's my little black and tan and I am grateful to have her in my life.

Batman the Complete Season One

This was my birthday present to myself, since it was on sale and I had a $10 GC, it cost a whopping $7!  While I would love to get the complete blu ray set some day, this will do for now.  I'm really happy the entire series is out on DVD now, as it's something I never actually thought would happen, what with all the rights being tied up with a gazillion different companies.  But here we are, so let's be happy with it, since it's pretty great (what I've watched so far).

Happy 9th Birthday, Dacya!

This really has nothing to do with roller derby Xenorama, but I'm posting it anyway.  It's something I do every years now.  Aside from it being my birthday today, it's my tortoise shell cat Dacya's birthday as well.  She's nine years old now, and has been with me since she was seven months old.  She had such huge ears when I got her I wondered if she would ever grown into them.  But she finally did, after some rather awkward teenage years (she had a big body and a tiny head for about a year).  She's been my constant companion through a lot of stuff in both of our lives.

This is a pretty funny fanmade video. The song is from Al's first album. I owned the tape of it many years ago, but I hadn't thought of the song until recently for some reason. It's quite well done, and the acting is pretty hilarious at times, especially some of the birthday girl's reactions.

Happy Birthday Dacya Clementine

Dacya (pronounced DOSS-ya) turns eight years old today.  I got her when she was bout 7 months old from El Cajon's Friends of Cats.  I knew I wanted a tortoiseshell cat, and there she was, sleeping in the top of a cat tree.  She still loves to sleep in the sun. 

The girl who helped me out told me her name was "Clementine" and that she had been born there at the shelter on April 11th.   Now, I sometimes I need a huge sign to figure things out, but not this time.  When you are looking for a tortie and you find one that shares your birthday?  That was my girl.

my Dacya Clementine turns 6 years old today.  she's been with me for five and half years. 

she's a prime example of tortitude and always lets me know how her day is going.  or something, she's always chattering.  for some reason she thinks I need to know everything about anything.

I have no idea where she gets that.

I adopted her about 3 and a half years ago.  I was looking for a tortie and had seen a few already, but went to Friends of Cats and after looking for a bit, there she was, lying in the sun in a cat tree. her name was just "Clementine" then, but I knew that would change.

I asked the nice lady about her, and she told me some of her story.  "Clementine was born here, on April 11th..." which pretty much sealed the deal for me then.

pack her up, I'll take her.  she was not thrilled about the cat carrier or the car ride home (she still doesn't care for cars trips) and immediately hid under the bed for a few days.

she was a wee thing back then and had huge ears.  the vet said it would be some time before she grew into those ears, and it was.  but she had loads of energy and would play fetch almost immediately.  she's mellowed a bit, now that is has reached the old age of four.

got this Giant Robo toy several years ago at the local comic book shop.  it moves and even came with a rather out of proportion Johnny Sokko figure.  Johnny wouldn't stand up on the carpet so he got left out.

I would have loved to have one of these as a kid, wouldn't that have just been a great toy to play with till it fell apart?  moves about as well as the live action one as well!

now if they only made a Dragulon to have him fight, the package would be complete.  I think he's my favorite of the monsters from that series.

here's Thuvia Jane, or TJ as it's easier for me to write and say.  she's also rather nonplussed about the impending battle with our hero.

Daci is just the supervisor for this battle.  don't worry, no harm came to either the toy or the cat, since she'd rather bat about softer fuzzier things.

great suffering cats

though not my cats, they never suffer. just sleep, mostly.

anyway, it's almost been another month. how the heck does this happen? the best intentions. i need to focus up- i "rack a discaprin" to use a South Park quote. if i set a time to write, work out and then have surf the internets, i'd make much better use of my day.

so that's what ima do. and then i can watch my fansubs of Gekiranger or what have you. this will start on the first of September. just in time for a vacation.

it's time to celebrate your birthday

though i wish i felt better today. Daci's birthday is also today, she is two years old. i'm a bit older than her. she's happily staring out the window, completely unaware it's her day of days.

yay!

good news, i got the replacement disc in and can watch the Final Four episodes. these are from the place i recommend, 8thman.com which is the best place to get 'em. more expensive, but worth it. so i'm back to writing after a bit of a break. and i've accidentally learned how to format the book, which really helps.

so far the book is a whole 32 pages long. i expect it to be at least 50 by the time i get done. not including front and back covers. i'll be adding some screen captures and other pictures. not a lot of promotional material about for Marine Boy.

i think i'm supposed to have a photo for the back cover, and a blurb about me. perhaps i'll get one of Dacya and i for it.

getting better

my workout are getting better- i'm starting to push past 30 minutes now, and i just added an additional 15 pushups to my set.

Dacya is just a love, and ever so talky.
