Coming soon to an issue of Xenorama!  Well, perhaps in the next two years, as 2025 would be the 50th anniversary of the man beyond bionics... Inframan!  So in two years we will have an issue dedicated to this fun movie.  There will be a few of these anniversary issues appearing in the next couple years.  I have written quite a bit about this movie over the years, so it is only fair to finally give the movie an entire issue.

Xenorama #34 Rider Punch!

 

The newest issue of Xenorama is being readied for publication (i.e. it's under review) and is a load of Kamen Rider goodness!  It covers the first five series, then several more after that.  The various movies that have been produced from other countries are also in here.  It's taken over two years to finish, but dang, it's a lot of episodes to watch.  In previous years it was a lot easier to watch these shows, but now it takes a lot longer.  Dang jobs always getting in the way!  Still, I am happy to have this one done.  I think the Super Sentai issue will be the next one up, which should wrap up the year.  I am pretty happy with the cover, though perhaps a class on how to use photoshop is in order now.  Maybe next year.

Inframan US opening

Yeah, it's the opening from the quickly OOP/C&D Sinister Cinema VHS tape from some 15 or 20 years ago or so. I like it more than the original opening, but that could be because I saw it first. It is pretty short and to the point.

SUPER INFRAMAN (1975) Trailer

here's the original Mandarin trailer for SUPER INFRAMAN. I'm kind of surprised it doesn't have subtitles, but it's pretty straightforward. in fact, so much so that you get nearly the entire movie in under four minutes. this seems to be pretty standard for HK movies. I wonder if there was ever an "international" trailer in English for this movie. I know several were made. heck, I wonder if there was a different English dub made for this one as well.

Inframan Ipad Fail

got this screen shot the other day from my collaborator Liberty Belle.  she thought it was weird that I used the video I made for derby to talk about the Inframan opening titles.  I thought it was odd as well, since I was pretty sure I used the right video.  I checked it for myself, and no one else mentioned it, so I had no idea what she was talking about. 

she then took this screen capture.  the iPad sure does do some cool things, huh?  but that's OK if I never can do that.  though I think some how the PC might be able to do something like that.

Inframan opening credits

now that I've watched these I wonder why I've used the hyphen for so many years. perhaps the English poster... yes, it's got the hyphen. darn it all, that's years of work I have to undo! anyway, here's the opening US credits from the long OOP Sinister Cinema squeeze scope VHS. I remember getting this as a Xmas present when it came out, and I think that was about the only time it was available, as I'm sure Brenner jumped on it the moment he saw it in their catalog. someone should interview Brenner about the movies he imported. that would be fascinating.

 just a few images from the recent... well, five year old now... DVD.  it's a pretty great presentation over all, and I'm still really happy it was released.  too bad they didn't sneak the original US titles on it or the trailers, but I understand the reasoning behind all of that.

I have several of the original tv spots for this movie, and never once do they actually mention Joseph Brenner, like his name in 1975 would have been a selling point anyway!  still, it's a well done trailer, fan made or not.
