lobby cards for The Witch's Curse

Watching this again for the first time in about 15 years or so, a redubbed widescreen print.  It starts off with a burning at the stake, and keeps going!  The dubbed Scottish accents are hilarious, though at least they are consistent, I can give them that.

Perseo l'invincibile (1963)

From Wiki-  Medusa Against the Son of Hercules (Italian: Perseo l'invincibile, lit.'Perseus the Invincible', Spanish: El valle de los hombres de piedra, lit.'The Valley of the Stone Men') is a 1963 Italian-Spanish sword and sandal film directed by Alberto De Martino and starring Richard Harrison. It is loosely based on the myth of Perseus and Medusa.[1][2]

Plot

Medusa is a monster that haunts a lake and attacks a group of soldiers; her single eye is capable of turning her victims to stone and the kingdom of Argos uses her to impose suffocating tolls on those who pass through. Perseus, the missing son of the true king of Argos (murdered by a usurper who married his widow), is captured by the troops of an evil monarch and forced to fight as a gladiator. But he escapes and plots to overthrow the villain, still having time to face the Medusa and try his luck if he can bring the petrified soldiers back to life. Back to me:

735. Goliath and the (new) Dragon in 1960!

Here's a movie I want to like more than I do.  It is pretty good, but... there's something missing here.  I am not sure what.

Goliath and The Dragon 1960

This is a very busy, and rather obviously edited US theatrical cut (not on the DVD, but from the Italian version).  It is pretty good, though.

Hero of the Week- Maciste

From Wiki- Maciste (Italian pronunciation: [maˈtʃiste]) is one of the oldest recurring characters of cinema, created by Gabriele d'Annunzio and Giovanni Pastrone. He is featured throughout the history of the cinema of Italy from the 1910s to the mid-1960s.

He is usually depicted as a Hercules-like figure, utilizing his massive strength to achieve heroic feats that ordinary men cannot. Many of the 1960s Italian movies featuring Maciste were retitled in other countries, substituting more popular names in the titles (such as Hercules, Goliath or Samson). Back to me:

Atlas in the Land of the Cyclops

From Wiki- Atlas in the Land of the Cyclops (Italian: Maciste nella terra dei ciclopi) is a 1961 Italian epic adventure film[2] starring Gordon Mitchell and Chelo Alonso. Queen Capys is doomed to a life of slavery by the Powers of Darkness until the last descendant of Ulysses is put to death to please the Cyclops. This is almost accomplished in a raid on a village by the Queen's soldiers where a descendant of Ulysses is killed and his wife enslaved; however, their infant son is taken away to be protected by Maciste.  Back to me:
