From Wiki Not to be confused with The Lost World (1925 film). The Lost World is a 1960 American fantasy adventure film directed by Irwin Allen, loosely based on the 1912 novel of the same name by Arthur Conan Doyle. Shot in De Luxe Color and CinemaScope, the film's plot revolves around the exploration of a plateau in Venezuela inhabited by cannibals, dinosaurs, carnivorous plants, and giant spiders. The cast includes Claude Rains, David Hedison, Fernando Lamas, Jill St. John, and Michael Rennie. Back to me:
I used to really dislike this movie. The first time The Lost World was aired here in Fossil Bed, it said it was the 1925 version, but then showed this one. That was a major bummer- I had already seen several movies using the One Million, BC lizards as pretend dinosaurs, and I was over that. I then got to see the film in a summer movie matinee (I understand why they wouldn't show a silent b/w movie) and it was still disappointing. The cast is quite good, though, but alas, having an iguana called a Brontosaurus was awful. Now I realize they probably didn't know what was going to be on the screen. It was more fun with Sven, though.
We will do a podcast review sometime next week.
Next- my beloved Creature from the Black Lagoon!
