Calvin and Hobbes Monday 02-27-1986

This is exactly how tricky all responsible mothers can be.  I always got the "eyes in the back of head" bit.

876. The perilous Planet of Storms review!

This is a fascinating movie from 1960s Russia.  It is pretty cool, if not very adventurous.

John the Robot

John the Robot is from the Russian movie Planet of Storms, or Planeta Bur, if you will.  I have seen this a total of three times, and it is impressive, overall.  John is a great looking and very functional robot in this movie.

875. The exploitative Eliminators review! 1986

The 80s sure were a fun time for movies, even with all the excesses!

Dinosaur Hunting License 1963

One can still obtain these Dinosaur Hunting License when in Vernal (why not Dinosaur, CO?) Utah these days.  I think my sainted mother actually got one for my brother and I when we went there some 55 years ago or so.  I have a vague memory of her reading the rules and regs and such from back then.  And I still have my tiny Dinah figure from that time frame.  I was a very young agent at the time.

874. The supersonic 7 Live Performances on Fridays review!

This got a pass from YouTube completely.  I am not sure how that happened, but enjoy!

Rosemary's Baby trailer

I have seen this once, maybe four decades ago, and I remember it... not well.  Just the ending.  We all know about that ending.  Devil movies just are not my bag, baby.

873. Starting Square Pegs 01-04 review!

Here we start a new series review, the wonderful Square Pegs from 1982!

The Eliminators 1986

From Wiki- Eliminators is a 1986 science fiction action film directed by Peter Manoogian, starring Andrew Prine, Denise Crosby and Patrick Reynolds. The plot centers on a "Mandroid" constructed by an evil scientist from the body of a downed pilot, who teams up with the scientist responsible for android technology, her pet robot Spot, a riverboat guide and a martial arts warrior. Back to me: It is a Charles Band movie, so that means it was gonna be at least interesting.  It has a little bit of everything popular from the time frame in it, and even a Star Trek connection.  Well, a soon to be Star Trek connection, anyway.

872. The ideal Iron GIant review!

I am surprised I did not review this movie back when I saw it in the theater.  Well, perhaps not.

Villain of the Week- Cobra

From Wiki- Cobra is the name of several characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

The most well-known Cobra is Klaus Voorhees, now known as the King Cobra. He first appeared in Journey into Mystery #98 (Nov. 1963) created by writer Stan Lee and artist Don Heck.[1] Klaus Voorhees was a laboratory assistant, working with a professor trying to find a cure for various venomous snake bites. A combination of a bite from a radioactive cobra and the experimental anti-venom granted him superpowers, which led to him becoming the supervillain briefly known as the Human Cobra and then as the Cobra. The Cobra and Mister Hyde formed a criminal team for years, fighting various heroes such as Thor and Daredevil.[2] He later became a member of the Serpent Squad and a member of Sidewinder's Serpent Society. During a takeover attempt by the Viper, the Cobra actually opposed her rule and sided with Captain America to depose the Viper and foil her plans. The Cobra later took the name "the King Cobra" as he assumed leadership of the Serpent Society. When the Serpent Society became Serpent Solutions under the leadership of the Viper (Jordan Stryke, a different Viper) the King Cobra became a member of the group. Back to me:

Happy First Birthday, Hex!

Hex starts her second year of life today, and has taken to living here very well.  She is four pounds larger now, and bigger than her sister.

865. The Gleaming Green Lantern First Flight review! 2009

It is not 114 minutes of wrong, though it sure could have been better.

Villain of the Week- Darius Dax

From Writups.org-  Foremost amongst the many adversaries of Supreme is arch-foe Darius Christian Dax. A child genius from Littlehaven, born in the year 1917, Dax was set to surpass Einstein. Eclipsed by the emergence of Kid Supreme, Dax’s jealousy became a bitter hatred that has endured down the decades.

He built the Tremendroid robot at the age of 15, by using Supremium, to kill Kid Supreme. This failed, however, and Dax was sent to reform school. Throughout the years, Dax continued to fight his nemesis Supreme. To do so, he invented a great number of lethal and fantastic creations.

His exposure to the element Supremium, which he intensively studied for a number of years, gave him lymphatic cancer. In 1967 he was told that he had one year left to live.  Like many people in his situation, Darius wanted to use his time mending old grievances and perhaps writing a memoir. So that is what he did, except Darius left a very special memoir just before dying.  Back to me:

I wonder what music Hobbes likes to listen to.  That might have been a fun run of strips.

862. The Generic Genesis II review! 1973

Well, I forgot to post this earlier.  Go figure.  It is an interesting failure, and I can see why a second pilot was made.

The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold (1958)

From Wiki- The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold is a 1958 American Western film in Eastmancolor released by United Artists. The second of two theatrical features specifically based on and continuing the TV show The Lone Ranger it stars Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels, reprising their roles from the TV series.[1][2] The first feature film was 1956's The Lone Ranger. No further films based on this specific version of the characters were made after this one.[3] back to me:
