Here's one of the best book to movie adaptions out there, which isn't surprising since Peter S. Beagle wrote both the book and the screenplay. I wish I had seen it when it was theatrically released in 1982, but I don't remember it coming to our area. It was one of the many Japanese/American co-productions that came out around that time period.

as a fan of the first three Charlie the Unicorn stories, it's nice to see a new one out after about three years. you kind of have to watch them all in order, but it's not completely necessary. they are weirdly funny, but poor Charlie.
