Flag of Iron/Spearman of Death (1980)

 

From Wiki- The respected and noble ‘Iron Flag’ clan are at constant quarrel with their bitter rivals, the notorious ‘Eagles’, who oversee various illegal activities in the town. To resolve these matters, the chiefs of both clans agree to meet in person, accompanied by their most formidable fighters. The Iron Flag clans hierarchy suspect that the Eagles will not act in good faith, so, at the behest of ‘Iron Tiger’ Tsao Feng (Lu Feng), they invite the mysterious, hitman-for-hire, the ‘Spearman’ (Lung Tung Sheng) as back-up in case things go sour.  Back to me:

This is a good movie, though it has taken me three watches to figure out everything. The fights are good, though a few are a bit more sped up than usual, which is quite rare for the Shaws at this time.  It is a story of betrayal and once you watch the movie the villain is pretty darn apparent right away.
