722. The Magnificent Battle Beyond the Stars review!

Yeah, I saw it in the theater, and still enjoy it now.  Sure, John-boy is no Luke Skywalker, but he does a great job.

We are Nestor

Battle Beyond the Stars is the movie review today, and I forgot how much I enjoyed this on first viewing and the other times I have watched it.

498. May the Fourth, Pachy Day 2025!

Here we have the second annual Pachy Day celebration!  This was a very fun episode to make, I must say.

Koseidon Star Destroyer Freedom

This is the Space-Time Ship Freedom.  It gets destroyed in the age of Gypsum or Chalk, the subtitles were not exact.  It looks exactly like a small scale Star Destroyer.  Yes, the ones featured in most of the Star Wars franchise movies. The first movie came out a year before this show did, so no real surprise that the design was... borrowed... here.  The influence of Star Wars was immediate, with most major and several minor studios trying to cash in on the brand new fad.  Still, I was surprised to see such a blatant... homage... in a Japanese television series.  I shouldn't be, though.

non special star wars Blu Ray

Boy I would love a great copy of that first Star Wars movie- as it was released in 1977.  No "A New Hope" title or anything.  I'm really surprised Disney hasn't done this for the first three movies, since they could make another mint off the fans of that series.I know many people who would get a set.  Me, I just want the first one.

Show Me STAR WARS, without Showing Me STAR WARS

And he does, even if Hardware Wars (1978) is nowhere to be seen.  That was the first ever Star Wars parody.  This is really well done, and Paul himself worked at LucasFilms on the Star Wars franchise.

who you gonna call?

I remember watching Ghostbusters in the theater for the first time.  This was in the summer of 1984, and the movie quickly became the "go to" film to see if you have a bad day.  I saw it ten times that summer.  This is probably only second to Star Wars (1977) for the movie I have see the most times in the theater in my life.  I saw it on it's 40th anniversary  as well, even if I was forbidden to say any lines from the movie that time.  That was not easy, I'll tell you what.  Somehow I managed to keep it together for those two hours.

It's not May the 3rd and it's not May the 5th...

...but this is still pure money grubbing crap.  I don't even like the cartoon sequence that introduces everyone's favorite worm food, Boba Fett.  Everyone in this must have known it was rubbish right away.  I mean, musical numbers, comedy bits and a Wookiee family with terrible names.  No wonder the Ewoks replaced them in Return of the Jedi (1983).  They really didn't deserve to take down the Empire after this mess.

Solo (2018)

I have not seen a new star wars movie in a theater since 1983. The non special edition doesn't count.  This was pretty fun.
