374. The Baneful Brain from Planet Arous (1957)!

In which we start Series 03 with X7's review of The Brain from Outer Space! It is a fun movie with a silly invader who is trying to take over the world. Seems like many evil brains from space do that regularly.

Pinkymaniacs Live (2024)

Last night I journeyed up to the thriving Metropolis of Loveland,CO to see Animaniacs Live.  It was billed as starring Rob PaulsenMaurice LaMarche and Randy Rogel. However, Maurice was not there, which was a bummer, but the show was still great.  It was Rob and Randy, who was the composer of many of the songs.  He played and sang the parts that Rob did not.  I am only familiar with a few of the songs from the Animaniacs, and really, none of the ones they did for Histeria!, so it was like a brand new performance for me.  They held a meet and greet after, and did not leave until everyone that wanted a picture or something signed.  Since I had planned in advance, I got this done, plus Rob's book Voice Lessons.  That may have been the most fun part.

Voice Lessons (2019)

I had no idea this book was a thing.  I discovered whilst doing my research on both Pinky and the Brain and the 80s Jonny Quest series.  I bought it as a Yule gift (thanks Mom),  I am almost done reading it, but some parts are not easy to get through.  See, Rob Paulson is a voice actor, and as life will do to people, he got throat cancer.  This book is about his life, from start until he wins his battle with cancer.  That would be a spoiler, sweetie, if you didn't know he wrote the book (with help from Michael Fleeman).

Xenorama #62

This is the last issue of 2023.  I quite enjoyed all the "research" I had to do for it  All the original appearances of PATB are in here, plus the episodes from the sequel series of Animaniacs as well.  It is in full color and we are quite happy about the way it came out.  It is a good sized issue, almost 80 pages.  It also features the very first ever letter to the editor.  From what I can tell, it came all the way from Japan!  I can hardly believe it took this long- well over 30 years, to actually get a fan letter to the zine itself.

But That's Not All, Folks!

The Brain stages an infomercial in order to try to take over the world.  Naturally, it is the most annoying infomercial ever, but also the most fun one that has ever been made.  It also fails spectacularly, which is par for the course with Brain's schemes.  The best part of the episode is Brain's patter to the audience.  He really has that down.

Schmëerskåhøven- Pinky and the Brain

The Brain finds himself in an odd village, where everyone is named after a hat.  Turns out there is a plot to take over the world using a smash song from the Swedish supergroup  BAAB.  It is called "the Schmëerskåhøven" and it is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds.  Unraveling this plot takes three whole episodes, and there are several twists and turns along the way.  Pinky and the Brain save the day, but do not take over the world that night.  Naturally, they return to the lab to plan for tomorrow night.

This past month

Yeah, it was light on content. Sorry about that. I'll be better this month, since I should have a new computer in the near future.

Brainy the Pooh & Pinklet

yes, been on a Pinky and the Brain watching bit for a while now. this is one of the funniest episodes, as they manage to parody everything just right, including the title characters. the guest cameos are even funnier and note perfect, as one can see in this short clip.

the GOOD Brain

here he is giving Pinky a dinosaur stamp.  what better gift could there possibly be for a genetically altered lab mouse?

that's something all geniuses should do from time to time, give their friends dinosaur stamps and or stickers.

Yes, Always

no secret, I love Pinky and The Brain. this is an awesome parody of Orson Welles- well, sorta. it's famous or infamous in it's own right.

... and Larry

this episode of Pinky and the Brain cracked me up for so many reasons.  this is just the opening.

this is one of my favorite tv shows of all time.  it's smart, funny and subversive.  I believe I have mentioned it before, and I am sure I will again.

who knew a cartoon about two mice trying to take over the world would be so great?

"Star Warners" (1998)

long before Robot Chicken and (ugh) Family Guy did their "homages" to Star Wars, one of the greatest cartoons ever did theirs- "Pinky and the Brain".  I wasn't sure if this was actually an Animaniacs episode, but everything I've seen says it was the series finale to "PATB".  anyone with more info is invited to share it here.
