Bubo

Pity poor Bubo.  Always derided as an outright R2D2 ripoff (and there is something to that, we can admit that, right?) there were also plenty of robots present in Greek mythology, and since Talos had been in a movie already, Bubo isn't that bad.  He serves a purpose in the movie and is pretty darn cute.  He also adds some much needed humor to a movie that is far too serious for its own good for too much  of the running time.  This mechanical owl isn't really one of the problems of this movie.

The Clash - Clampdown (Live at the Lewisham Odeon)

Somehow I never knew that 2-7 was International Clash Day.  So here is one of my favorite songs to celebrate a day late.  There are a lot of covers of Clash songs these days, some are better than others.  While I don't believe they are "the only band that matters" I really appreciate that subtitle.

This Is Radio Clash

The first time I heard this song I really didn't care much for it. It was only years later that I realized how brilliant it actually was. Of course, once I read up more about the Clash I was even more impressed with "The Only Band That Matters" and what they accomplished in their short time together.

The Clash - London Calling

to finish February on this the 29th day of the month, here's the only band that matters- the Clash! I believe this is shot on the Thames where they were giving an illegal free concert, or something like that. I forget how that story goes now.
