Ultraman Ace

Ultraman Ace is such a fun show.  It isn't as serious as Return of Ultraman but it is so much better than Ultraman Taro.    The monsters get a bit ridiculous on occasion, but the stories are generally good.  This was the first Ultra show I watched completely, at least after the original.  I have always loved the way Ace looked, though it is easy to tell that head piece is a little awkward for the stunt actor to move around in at first.  It had to take some getting used to.

Watching the Blu Ray set is amazing.  The first time I saw the show was on at least second gen dupes on VHS, with no subs.  These are so clear you can see various wires at times.  Some of the monsters (called "terrible beasts" in the subs, rather than chojin, or "super monsters" as the translation used to be before these subs) are better than others, but overall I like most of them.  There are a lot of monsters using fire breath, but the animated rays are still present.  It is a fun show.
